Atelier Escha & Logy - Alchemists of the Dusk Sky 1 released!

Okay, so now it's our turn. We would've had it out a lot earlier, but our encoder BF3000 had to go to a convention this weekend. ^^ Mind you, after thinking it over, we'll go ahead and continue. We're doing this for our tler and anyone else who cares lol. We'll be alot faster this coming week for ep. 2. This show will be like Futari Milky. All softsub and 3 sets of encodes. 8, 10 and xvid. For now, just check it out if want. We'll be working on PRASS 1 and 2 as to catch up with weekly releases. If wanna know reason why behind, one of our tlcers has been busy lately. ^^

Atelier 1 720p 8-bit H264

Atelier 1 720p 10-bit H264

    1. You mean, one with Japanese honorifics?

    2. We decided to go with localized because of the game's setting. It's not set in japan.

    3. Yes! Honorifics would do but unlocalized subs would be best. Stuff like the Rise and shine line, etc.
The setting does not really matter though, it's kind of weird to read something different than what the audio is. It's a Japanese game too so that should matter more than setting.

    4. If your Japanese is that good, just watch the raw.

    5. I would but sadly it's not that good to watch it raw yet.

  6. Hello Kiteseekers... i'd like to give an honest constructive critique about this fansub work.
i'm F10... a somewhat retired typesetter, i'd like to talk about this because i saw some serious problems in this script related to the styling itself.

1st- one of the most important rules of styling is to never use light on dark for a dialogue.
and the reason for that is because it becomes nearly unreadable on bright scenes...
in this case... the main style of your script SHOULD'VE been or SHOULD be reversed... make the Bord dark and the Fill light... and add a white (0.5)shadow with about 125 transparency to keep the integrity and ensure the readability of the text under shadow scenes aswell.

    2) extensive(ITC) family type fonts are not exactly recommendable to use in the main script and much less with this kind of styling.... and in general they should be avoided at all costs even more in this HD era. the reason is that the text becomes 20-25% less readable because of the font. and in cases like mine where i end up watching the file in a big TV. is almost twice as hard to read it.

while it might be true that softsubs give the downloaders the ability to modify the subs at will at home... i think that having into account that the quality of the script is of such a HQ i'd take into consideration redesign the styles to match the standards of the script itself.

while i will personally not follow this version anymore "for personal reasons only" because i didn't start watching anime 2 years ago i can't put up with localized translations(i need my honorifics). i just can't but i did came here to pay my respects since even though the TL-style is not my cup of coffee i was amazed at the HQ of it. is honestly a top notch script of the kind rarely seen nowdays.

now las but not least... as for my recomendation for the styling... i would suggest some kind of gothic type font and just reverse the colors and add a tiny white shadow almost transparent to keep it readable at all times.

    F10.

    1. Thanks for your info and advice. I already changed the style in the xvid version and will keep it for the rest of the series. I believe it is readable and good for the style. I know honorifics can be a big deal, but we didn't see any reason to have them for a series based not in Japan. Not saying we will do this all the time, but for this occasion, we went this route. I understand your reason not to follow us anymore cause of the localized not being there but there are other groups doing it so hopefully, they can help you on that part. Thanks for your reply and honest opinions.
